We give back.

With tova travel help we support social and ecological programmes with a small donation, between 8-10% of the tour turnover and depending on the size of the group. To ensure that the money goes directly to the people and the programme, we support and hand over the donations directly.

One of the founding pillars of tova travel has always been responsible travel and sustainable tourism. People, community and connection is at the centre of our tours, as is the protection of nature. As a small travel company, we are aware that we, too, have a certain level of social and environmental responsibility.

It is very close to our heart.

We work with locals directly and create direct opportunities for them, and we also embrace sustainability when curating our itineraries — from supporting smaller and charming accommodations with unique and interesting sustainability concepts to refraining from flying within a country, enjoying seasonal and local food and protecting the environment. On all of our tours, we understand, that we travel to the home of other people, so we respect the environment and the culture of the country we travel to. We fully embrace responsible and conscious travelling as a concept. Therefore we do not only enjoy a country’s culture and its nature — we give back.

Together, we can make a difference. It may be little for us, but big for someone else. By booking your tour with us, you help making a change and putting a smile on someone’s face, for which we are truly grateful. Thank you.

Sri Lanka

In May 2024, Sri Lanka experienced one of the worst floods, which put many villages under water and destroying the crops of their farm lands and access to roads, thus tarnishing the livelihood of many who lived in these remote villages. With our tours to Sri Lanka, we donate a portion to help restore these destroyed farm lands and also to conserve the river banks of the village to minimise harm in future natural disasters in the small village ‘Pahalapola’ in Sabaragamuwa Province, neglected and forgotten by authorities. Our help goes directly to our tour operator Summer Explorers, and together, we help more farmers as well as provide disaster management rescue equipment for the villagers.

  • By donating a percentage depending on the group size of each tour, we donate to our tour operator Summer Explorers directly. Our help thus goes directly and 100% to helping more farmers compensating for their lost crops and restoring their farm lands, accessing roads, as well as providing disaster management rescue equipment for the villagers.

  • Yes, we will update all travellers in general and all travellers who book and travel to Sri Lanka with us directly.

  • For every of our Sri Lanka tours, our tour operator in Sri Lanka plants trees on our behalf in a Reforestation Programme. So, for our Winter Tour, 16 trees will be planted, for our Summer Tour 17-18. This happens independently from our help programme following the floods in the north of Sri Lanka.

  • No. The floods are in remote areas in the north of the country, where we do not travel to.

Our values

Responsible tourism

As a small travel company, we are aware that we have a certain level of social and environmental responsibility. We are not only visiting a country, we are travellers who understand that we travel to a country that is home to people and we respect it.

Sustainable tourism

We embrace sustainability and travel in a way that reflects that. For instance, we refrain from flying within a country. Whenever possible, we support unique or smaller accommodations that support environmentally friendly practices and programmes.

Social responsibility

At tova travel, we work with locals directly and create hence opportunities for locals in all destinations we travel to. For all of our tours, we curate unique and personal itineraries that give you genuine insights, but also to involve locals directly.
