tova travel help
In May 2024, Sri Lanka experienced one of the worst floods situation which put many villages under water destroying the crops of their farm lands and access roads, thus tarnishing the livelihood of many who lived in these remote villages. With our tours to Sri Lanka, we donate a portion to help restore these destroyed farm lands and also to conserve the river banks of the village to minimise harm in future natural disasters in the small village ‘Pahalapola’ in Sabaragamuwa Province, neglected and forgotten by authorities. Our help goes directly to our tour operator Summer Explorers, and together, we help more farmers as well as provide disaster management rescue equipment for the villagers. For us, responsible travel is one of the founding pillars of tova travel. We give back.

What to know about Sri Lanka:
-
Sri Lanka is a tropical island, with sunshine and also two monsoons affecting different parts and regions of the island.
With an average temperature of 27°C , there is always sunshine somewhere, making it a popular holiday destination year-round.
Two seasons generally divide Sri Lanka: the dry season and wet season.Temperatures are and stay hot and humid throughout the year, and, even during rainy season. Sri Lanka weather never follows strict rules. Embracing that is part of the fun, we curate our tours carefully and take the weather conditions into our planning, so that we can maximise your chances of experiencing the best.
-
Our tours reflect on Sri Lanka's different seasons to make sure you get the best of your trip with us. Therefore, in each tour, we visit different regions.
In our Summer Tour, we visit central and north-east Sri Lanka.
In our Winter Tour, we visit central and south Sri Lanka. -
At tova travel, we always respect the local culture. Sri Lanka is lenient in terms of clothing, however, try to be respectful and especially at religious sights.
In Sri Lanka's tropical climate, we always recommend wearing natural fibers, like cotton and linnen. Avoid wearing revealing clothes which are often frowned upon in the Sri Lankan society. Opt for cotton or linen skirts, trousers, shorts, tees and tops, try to avoid the low-cut tops and hotpants. Bring some comfortable shoes for trekking and flip-flops or sandals.
-
For our tours, we have included fun and meaningful activities that provide an insight into the local culture and get you closer to locals. For us, it is always about connection - and it is the best part about travelling.
Sri Lanka has so much to offer: Beaches, nature, spirituality, food, tea production, wildlife. And we have included activities that take these and Sri Lanka's different seasons into consideration, in order to create well-rounded tours for you. Please note that in case of unforeseen weather changes, we might have to opt out of activities and change schedule, but we will make sure that it is equivalent. Safety comes first.
